ABSTRACT

This paper focuses on how William Morris the theorist and practitioner has contributed in the visual arts in the twentieth century. As a conclusion, it was made clear that he has bee not only a pioneer of Modern Movement, as whom he was recognized by Nikolaus Pevsner, but also a forerunner of a series of crafts or decorative arts movements, which has continued from the Arts and Crafts Movement in the end of the nineteenth century, through the crafts revival in 1970s, to recent Green Design Movement.
