To Become a Undergraduate Student

This information is for foreign students who pay their own expenses or are supported by their own government. The following shows the steps for the foreign student to become a undergraduate student in the Faculty of Human Development. The steps are different for research students, credit-seeking students, and auditors, whose information can be found at To Become a Research Student, To Become a Credit-seeking Student, and To Become an Auditor.

1. To Pick the Department
Please check the information about the departments at Academics or Guidebook and decide the department which you wish to apply to. The degree program is determined at the end of the first year.
2. To Check the Requirements
You may check the requirements, the period for accepting applications, and application fees at [Faculty of Human Development] Foreign Students Paying their Own Expenses (in Japanese) or at Kobe University/For Degree-seeking Undergraduate Students.
3. To Obtain an Application Form
To obtain an application form, please follow the instruction at [Faculty of Human Development] Foreign Students Paying their Own Expenses (in Japanese). If you are applying from overseas, please ask someone who live in Japan to get an application form for you.
4. To Apply
To apply to the department, please follow the instruction which is sent with the application form. If you are applying from overseas, please consult with the Student Administration Office about how to pay the application fee and sending an admission ticket to the examination.

5. To Take an Examination

6. To Be Accepted
A letter of acceptance and a letter of (conditional) admission are granted.
7. Procedure for Entering Japan
As a general rule, your representative in Japan should do the procedure for entering Japan, but the university also can do it for you in case your representative cannot for some reason.
8. Permission for Entering Japan
Please apply for a visa at a consulate of Japan in your country (if you are applying from overseas).
