To Become a Research Student

1. To Pick the Division and Course
Please check the information about the faculty members at Master's Programs, Doctoral Programs, or [Graduate School of Human Development and Environment] Guidebook (in Japanese) and decide the faculty member by whom you wish to be supervised, considering your own research topic.
2. To Check the Requirements
You may check the requirements, the period for accepting applications, and application fees at Faculty of Human Development, [Faculty of Human Development] Guidebook (in Japanese), Graduate School of Human Development and Environment, [Graduate School of Human Development and Environment] Guidebook (in Japanese). Please make sure you contact the faculty member under whom you would like to pursue your research and consult with him/her about the possibility of acceptance and guidance. You may be asked to have an interview with the faculty member if necessary.
3. To Obtain an Application Form
To obtain an application form, please follow the instruction at Foreign Students Paying their Own Expenses (in Japanese). If you are applying from overseas, please ask someone who live in Japan to get an application form for you.
4. To Apply
To apply to the department, please follow the instruction which is sent with the application form. A brief instruction can be found at [Master's Programs] Research Students (in Japanese) or [Doctorate Programs] Research Students (in Japanese). If you are applying from overseas, please consult with the student administration office about how to pay the application fees and sending an admission ticket to the examination.

5. To take an Examination
There may be only screening of applications for research students.
6. To Be Accepted
A letter of acceptance and a letter of conditional admission are granted.
7. Procedure for Entering Japan
As a general rule, your representative in Japan should do the procedure for entering Japan, but the university also can do it for you in case your representative cannot for some reason.
8. Permission for Entering Japan
Please apply for a visa at a consulate of Japan in your country (if you are applying from overseas).
